Kid Creatives: Sewing & Sculpture

Artists in grades 2nd-5th are invited to explore Sewing & Sculpture during this multi-part afterschool session!

Sewing 101 for kids (Part 1): 10/28, 11/4, 11/18

3D Sculpture (Part 2): 11/25, 12/2, 12/9, 12/16

During the first three weeks, students will explore the basics of hand sewing and embroidery-- applying their new skills to create stuffies, wearable art, and upcycled fiber creations.

During the second half (beginning 11/25) students will take this to another level with 3D sculpture-- using textiles, natural dyes, repurposed materials and creating collaborative Rube Goldberg machines!

Both sessions conclude with a student art show to celebrate their hard work!

This session includes 2 parts; you have the option to attend all 7 weeks, or just one 3 or 4 week session.

Sewing 101 (Part 1, 3 weeks): $250

Bussing is available for Mountain View Students on a first-come, first serve basis- you must notate this preference on your registration form, and RCA will contact the bus company. (the bus company does not want individual families calling them) RCA staff meets your child at the bus stop.

Daily Sample Schedule:

3:45-4:00 - Checking in, Snack, Play & Sketchbook Warm Up (This is a flexible arrival time, as students may have different transportation plans. If you child is unable to arrive until 4 o’clock that is totally okay!)

4:00-4:15 - New Material Demos & Guided Practice

4:20-5:20 - Open Creating Time

5:20-5:30 - Art Share & Clean Up

5:30 - Dismissal / Caregiver Pick Up

Important Information for Guardians: 

  1. If you haven't completed a digital safety waiver, please review here.  You’ll be asked to sign a hard copy when you sign in on day one of your session if the digital waiver has not been completed. You can receive a copy for your records upon request.  (Note- if you have already completed this form within the past 12-month, you're all set!)
